OOC Lounge and Luna Park
A fantastic panorama of fun spreads out in every direction, here in the famous
Luna Park on Coney Island, 1903. Coming in from Surf Avenue, you can see the
brilliant Electric Tower that dominates all from its position in the central
lagoon and can be seen for miles at night. What to do first? The famous Trip to
the Moon or the Shoot the Chutes boat ride that sends passengers hurtling
towards the water? Travel to the arctic in a submersible and see real polar
bears, or watch the allied European powers attack New York Harbor. Come see a
miracle of the modern age: Baby Incubators, too new and bizarre for hospitals.
Snuggle on the Red Mill water ride or go on the scenic railway Going back up
towards the Helter Skelter giant slide and the Japanese tea garden, the
landscape is dominated by the gigantic red-roofed Sea Beach Palace. 22 acres of
1221 red and white painted towers, minarets and domes, lit by 250,000 electric
lights...'By day a Paradise - at Night Arcadia'; truly it is a fantasyland on
Earth, all for ten cents admission. Enjoy!
This room is intended as a place for OOC and other meta-conversation about the
game and as a place for new characters to be introduced to it; if you're not
feeling hospitable toward new players or guests, it's suggested that you not
hang out here, as they're likely to pop up at random.

You paged Rusty with 'Oh that... I don't read the books nor do I care about

Darkling says "Don't worry, it's just in the magical land of "You don't have to

Outlaw says "We went over to the Maurers to go swimming earlier. I was talking
about wanting to finish the last of the boxes rather than watch Twin Peaks, and

Outlaw's response was, 'I KNOW.' ;)

Coda has disconnected.

You paged Rusty with 'Ok, I have it... BUT are you SURE you want to know?
ABSOLUTLY sure!?'.

Darkling says "Heh."
Darkling says "You have my utmost sympathy. =)"

From afar, Rusty nods. I'm sure.

Outlaw is actually enjoying Twin Peaks, now that I've seen it from the
beginning. Though we're only going to watch the 'Who Killed Laura Palmer' part,
I think. I hear the next story arc got REALLY weird.

Darkling never watched Twin Peaks.

Outlaw makes a face. "Why, oh why do people give people picture frames.'

Allie must go.

Outlaw says "It's almost as hard to pick out picture frames as books, and
they're a hell of a lot harder to take back discreetly."

Darkling says "So, they can put pictures of their favorite gay man in them and
display them for all to see?"

Coda has connected.

Allie has disconnected.

You paged Rusty with 'Cedric, among many others.'.

Outlaw laughs, "Get me a good picture of you in a 4 x 6 that looks good in an
off-white gold-washed from with antique accents and tiny roses, and I'll put it
in this frame."

Darkling says "Hmmm. . . I'll have to get someone with a camera."

Outlaw continues unwrapping. "Oh, and find something good in a 5 x 5 with a
silver frame that has gold accents and black streaks.

From afar, Rusty blinks. Ick.

Outlaw says "Hi, Coda. Don't give people frames for presents unless they have
pictures in them. :)"

Darkling makes a list.

Roger dives over to the IC world.

Roger swears he typed '+ic" there and not 'QUIT'

You enter the valley which holds the Caern of the Hidden Walk.
On the South Rim
A stream winds crookedly out of the dense, surrounding forest. It meanders,
making its way blindly and plummets off the sheer wall of the cliff, here where
the forest suddenly stops. The valley that cuts the land here is roughly forty
meters across, though it varies in places to as narrow as thirty. The view
across the crevice is impressive, though the view into the crevice itself is
obscured by mists below. The rush of water hitting stone is a constant song,
although its counterpart, the waterfall itself, can't easily be viewed from here
on the rim. Only a small foothold betrays the trail leading down.
The forest surrounds this spot on all sides away from the crevice. Off to one
side, a small, narrow trail leads down into the crevice and the mists.
Obvious exits:
Forest Down the Trail

As you take the trail down, the mist clears after a brief brisk walk, and you
end up on the floor of the canyon, next to a waterfall.
By the Waterfall
The edge of the valley forms a sheer rock face on this side of the Caern,
perhaps 10 meters straight up, studded with outcroppings and lined with narrow
cracks in a tracery of spidery fractures. Over the top lip of this natural wall
streams a narrow, glass-like sheet of water that hurls itself into a small pool
at its base, throwing up spray to soak the stones there, the rock behind it, and
the surrounding earth. From this pool the water flows in a shallow bed toward
the southwest before disappearing below the surface of the earth again in what
must be an underground stream.
To the west, cool mist kicked up by the falls mingles with warmer steam from
geothermal sources; these mists swirl around the caern to the north. The caern's
center lies northwest of here. You can pick out what seems to be a hazardous
trail over rock and up the wall, to the side of the waterfall.

You paged Rides-Fire and Stephen with 'Mind a wandering Walker? :)'.

Rides-Fire drinks his fill before turning to his cub. Cocking his head, he tilts
his good ear toward Stephen slightly. You have been learning well, the older
Stargazer says. What do you next think you should learn?

Rides-Fire pages to the room: I'm fine with it. :)

Stephen pages to the room: Ditto.

You have shifted to Hispo form.

Stephen cups water from the water fall and splashes it over his face. He turns
to Rides-fire, shaking his head and replacing his cap. "I don't know. What is
there?"

Dreamer steps down from the trail leading to the area around the waterfall, his
usually clean coat stuck with brambles, twigs, and leaves as if he were running
through bushes as opposed to around them. He smells of a fresh kill, blood
riding the air around him for those with lupine or better nostrils to pick up.
Upon noticing the two who already exist in this place, he shakes out some of the
catch in his fur a bit then heads over their way.

Rides-Fire says you have learned to follow a trail well for one born to the man-
form, but he is not sure you will survive combat without more practice. There is
also much more to learn of the ways of our blood. His ear flattens back, and his
scarred face appears almost sheepish. It is hard when I am the only adult.
Dream's scent distracts the lupus, and his tails raises a little with excitement
as he turns toward the scent of fresh blood.

Stephen frowns a little at the discussion of combat and then his frown turns to
a look of sympathy as his teacher continues to speak. He turns to the newcomer
as he approaches, waiting for Rides-fire to speak to him first.

Dreamer nods and lolls out his tongue, almost spitting it back into his mouth
before closing his jaw again, saliva throwing about him with the exagerated
movement the short quick breaths the Walker is taking. ~There is nothing to
learn here... Good evening, I am Howls-When-Dreaming of Cockroach's favor, a
Cliath Glass Walker Galiard of the human city beyond the trees.~

You paged the room with 'And there was silence.'.

Rides-Fire gives an uneasy shift when Dreamer mentions his tribe, but he also
returns introduction. ~I am called Rides-the-Wave-of-Fire, born of wolf under
the fullest moon, to the blood of those who watch the skies. I run in
Dreamrunners, under Unicorn.~

Stephen pauses a polite amount of time after Rides-Fire's introduction. "I'm
Stephen, Ragabash cub of the Stargazers," he says in rote.

Dreamer sits back an nods in a rather human fashion. Wonderful, we need more of
you. Now we have two. Wonderful. Too bad though...

Rides-Fire tilts his head, his look of unease deepening. Too bad?

Stephen sits down beside Rides-Fire, draping his right arm casually over the
lupe's shoulders. "Too bad?" he says, almost in unison to Rides-Fire.

Dreamer again nods, a bit lower this time. Yes. Too bad. As one might see, there
are only two here. Even having one in a great expance of land is considered a
moot by some. I really must apologize for the events that broke us unevenly. One
goes on to much... this cub... he is learning here?

Rides-Fire accepts the familiar touch of the cub, though his agitation is
transmitted through the contact. You are not at fault for the fact that my blood
do not breed widely, nor the fact that their ways are too hard for many. Runs-
Far is my student, yes. He does well in the things he wishes to learn.

Stephen cannot decide whether to look proud or embarrassed by Rides-fire's
praise.

Dreamer chuffs out a laugh and sitting back now slowly shifts into the human
form, then adjusting himself to sit indian-style. "We are all at fault for
all... oh bother... now I sound like one of those doom-sayers. Forget I said
that, I already have. Like I said though, there is nothing to learn here and
there is no time to not learn."

Stephen looks thoughtful, bordering on confused, at the glass walker's
statement. "Isn't that impossible? How can there be nothing to learn anywhere,
let alone here? There's always something to learn. Otherwise, you become
omniscient."

Roger just stares at Stephen as if what Roger had just said, didn't sink deep
enough into the poor boy's skull. "Impressive. You managed to ignore the total
point of what I just said altogether. You didn't even pull it's opposite from my
words, just complete randomness. I really am amazed. You possess a talent far
beyond my own powers of comprehension. If I wasn't sitting on my hands I would
applaud." after Roger is done with all this, a small genuinely friendly smile
appears on his face and he looks as if he had just spoken kind and loving words
to Stephen.

Stephen doesn't look like he took the words kindly or lovingly. "I'm not a big
fan of digging. If you have a point, say it." He crosses his arms over his chest
and waits.

Roger just sags down now looking rather disapointed and shaking his head, now
looking down at the ground as if shamed by something.

Rides-Fire's tailtip begins to twitch, but for now he holds his silence.

Rides-Fire pages to the room: Yeah, don't wait on me to powse. I warned Stephen,
at least, that I'd be slow.

Stephen's jaw drops slightly as if he's astonished by Roger's reaction. He then
reaches up and pinches the bridge of his nose as if trying to put the piece of a
puzzle together in his head. Finally, sounding kind of wary as he asks, "Am I
missing something? What's your point?"

Roger looks back up at the cub and just sighs, allowing himself to relax into a
lazy smile. "Ok, ok... there is no point. That is the point. I say that you
cannot learn 'here'(he places a strong emphasis on that word), and I say that
you must never not learn... for the time you are not learning is non-existant,
for you are never 'here' and am always somewhere else." A pause and he just
shakes his head. "Gah! I apologize, I see that my way of thinking doesn't rub
off on others that well. Basically I just said that you can never stop learning,
and that you must always learn... just in a more defining sense."

Rides-Fire finally breaks his stare at Roger to state to Stephen, Many of the
man-born of our blood speak so. It irritates me, but they think it wisdom to
chase the meaning down, like digging the mouse from its den.

Roger simply nods to RF's words looking to agree fully with him.

Stephen looks skeptical of Roger's logic. "But, if you had just said, 'You can
never stop learning', which is what I said before, then there wouldn't be any
confusion." He looks as if that is the obvious solution.

Roger looks again to Stephen and shakes his head. "There is always confusion, or
there is clairity from full understanding... which means there is no more to
learn... which is impossible. This is all because while you cannot learn here,
you can never... you know the rest."

Stephen slowly nods. "Okay then," he says non-commitally. He then turns to
Rides-fires, "Is there something you had in mind for me to learn today?"

Rides-Fire flattens his good ear in momentary amusement. Howls-When-Dreaming has
tested you in one way, but I think my teaching has shown through, because you
have shown as little taste for the double path as I have.

A small smile passes over Stephen's face, which then fades back to false
seriousness. "Yeah," is all he says.

Roger almost jumps up from where he stands but by sitting on his own hands,
makes that very difficult. "Amazing!" he says loudly in response to Rides. "Very
impressive you are."

Rides-Fire turns his wary gaze back to Roger questioningly.

Roger attempts a somber pose now, but his excited state shines through. "And
here I thought you would take all this cryptic mumbo-jumbo about learning
seriously. And you did and didn't at the same time. Simply marvelous and
unexpected."

Stephen looks astonished again. He stares at Roger incredulously, trying to say
something but having no words to put forth.

Rides-Fire's good ear twitches. Wryly, he says straight to Roger, You are very
much like some of our blood.

Roger simply shrugs now. "I knew one of your kind back home, he was a good
friend to me till he passed on."

Stephen stands and takes another handful of water from the falls. "I should get
some sleep, Rides-fire. I like to see the sun." He smiles at his teacher
pleasantly. "Nice meeting you, Roger."

Roger just glances at Stephen and frowns slightly. "It was?"

Stephen nods. "Sure. I always like meeting new people. No matter how weird they
might be." He returns Roger's earlier smile of friendship and kindness.

Stephen starts along the trail up to the rim of the valley.
Stephen has left.

Roger just sighs now and leans back. "And likewise a pleasure."

Rides-Fire licks his chops as he watches the cub go. I haven't been able to
convince him that daytime is for sleeping.

Roger turns his head to Rides fire and just shrugs. "I don't know what daytime
is for, I sleep when I need to."

Rides-Fire gives Roger an odd look. You do not feel your body's cycle?

Roger looks up at the sky and then returns his gaze to the 'gazer. "I feel my
bodys energy when need be. I sleep when it is time to sleep... its really just
that simple for me."

Rides-Fire tilts his head. But you do not always feel the same at the general
time of night?

Roger looks about himself ponderously and shrugs. "Not really... I slept
yesterday for about 3 hours after sunrise and today I plan on sleeping in about
4 hours."

Rides-Fire's ear twitches. You are strange, he says to the man, before standing.
Perhaps we will talk again later. It grows time to hunt.

Rides-Fire pages to the room: Goodnight. :)

Roger looks back towards the forest. "Good hunting, gaia bless you. Good night."

Lucca waves back, and is seething with hatred at the moment, in case I spew any
sort of diatribe. Don't worry, it'll subside eventually.

Kit oos. "What are you hating in paticular?"

Lucca is despising the inherently nasty nature of humanity, as well as the lack
of something-of-uncertain-nature that prevents me from taking solace in religion
or other such mental aberrations. H. P. Lovecraft was right, the universe -is-
cold and hostile.

Kit nods and has similar feelings on a regular basis.
Kit says "Unless you're christian, never move to the seattle suburbs. You find
only hostility and people who over estimate their own self importance."
Kit is bitter.
Kit is also going to bed before she really starts ranting. "G'night Lucca."

Lucca says, "I want to be Johnny the Homicidal Maniac when I grow up."

Kit says "Always good to have a goal in life."

Kit has disconnected.

Sebastian has arrived.

Lucca wavies.

Sebastian waves back.
Sebastian mmmms. "I was beginning to miss this place..." :)

Lucca says, "Aim better next time?"

Roger wonders if he wants to know?

Lucca says, "About Johnny the Homicidal Maniac?"
Lucca has disconnected.
